24 October 2012 by sradmin

No Opportunity Wasted is a Food Waste Conference on 7 November that will highlight discussions and debates regarding the €180bn of food waste annually and how to combat this particular challenge.

Organised by the Dutch Embassy with cooperation from the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture, and Innovation as well as the Sustainable Restaurant Association, this major conference will hopefully enable a White Paper of the European Commission to meet next year. Many conference-goers including farmers, suppliers, manufacturers, major retailers, and more will be able to discuss and help contribute to global food security and secure the future’s natural resources.

Speaking at the conference will be European Commissioner Janez Potocnik and Deputy Director General of the European Commission Mr Ladislav Miko. Tim Lang, Professor of Food Policy at City University, London, and author of Food Wars will also speak on the matter of global challenge of food security alongside several other notable speakers in the field of sustainable food.

SRA has contributed to the conference by hiring sustainable caterers Squid & Pear as well as waste contractors Paper Round. Included with lunch will be compostable boxes in which attendees will be able to reduce waste, helping to further the Too Good to Waste initiative.
