About The Sustainable Restaurant Association
Since 2010, The Sustainable Restaurant Association has set the Standard for sustainable foodservice businesses globally. The SRA connects businesses around the world to accelerate change towards a hospitality sector that is socially progressive and environmentally restorative through the world’s largest sustainability certification tailored for the sector: Food Made Good. The Food Made Good Standard (FMG) is the global gold standard for measuring progress across the industry. It is the world’s most comprehensive sustainability certification specifically designed for foodservice.

We work with around 350 foodservice businesses that expands out to about 10,000+ commercial kitchens across 25+ countries around the world.

We are looking for a dynamic, proactive Senior Sustainability Consultant to support foodservice businesses in achieving their sustainability goals – pushing the sector further and faster toward a progressive future. This role is fast-paced and varied, delivering made to measure consultancy projects across a variety of different F&B clients.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Senior Sustainability Consultant at The Sustainable Restaurant Association is responsible for delivering high quality, reputable consulting projects for a variety of hospitality clients ranging from suppliers to F&B businesses to wider hospitality stakeholders.
They maintain a deep understanding of the Food Made Good Rating, participating in a small number of Ratings evaluations to ensure that they maintain a robust understanding of where the industry is and the opportunities for progress. They participate in ensuring that reports for foodservice businesses are meaningful and actionable. Occasionally they will complete the audit on behalf of clients as part of a bespoke service.
As an effective project manager, the Senior Sustainability Consultant will ensure that all projects are defined and resourced appropriately. To do so, they will actively work with clients to ensure that project plans are both ambitious in scope and optimised to deliver maximal impact. They will identify milestones and targets for projects, ensuring that objectives are met and that projects are delivered within agreed deadlines and budgets.
As a subject level expert, the Senior Sustainability Consultant is expected to contribute to wider knowledge sharing among The SRA team, ensuring that learnings from consulting work are shared and insights highlighted for smaller businesses. You are expected to keep up to date with F&B related sustainability trends, research and developments, and to share that knowledge with our network and the team.
ABOUT YOU
Our ideal candidate is proactive, driven and passionate about bringing about positive change. You are also process oriented and confident across the entire project life cycle.
- You are competent to pitch for new work, scope opportunities, create clear proposals and project plans with ambitious objectives, and project manage to ensure the timely completion of deliverables.
- You are well-versed in conducting effective project reviews, evaluations and follow-ups that track against shared objectives set out by partnerships.
- You have an academic qualification within the field of sustainability and/or food systems (or relevant alternative).
- You have three years experience as a consultant or project manager working in sustainability.
- You have a background in hospitality (even if just pulling pints at University).
- You keep up to date with trends, legislation and research relevant to the sector.
- You understand supply chain/procurement sustainability and have a passion for policy.
- You are proactive and take the initiative to drive projects forward.
- You are a strategic thinker with good analytical skills.
- You are able to manage multiple projects at once.
- You like working in a fast-paced and reactive environment and have no problem delivering projects to tight timelines.
- You are a problem solver, and are able to provide creative solutions.
- You are a stickler for details and ensure a high level of accuracy across all work.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Definition of scope, forecast and resource for bespoke consultancy projects
- Management of projects with confidence, authority and subject matter expertise
- Regular progress tracking, budgeting and resource management
- Evaluation of projects based on impact, key performance metrics and client satisfactionIdentification of opportunities for new work, including generating successful proposals
- Regular policy reviews and policy development for hospitality clients
- Relationship management and stakeholder engagement
- Occasional evaluation of Food Made Good sustainability accreditations
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
- Degree in relevant sustainability field
- Track record of project management, and delivery of high quality, reputable projects with min. three years experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong stakeholder relationship management skills
- Comfortable presenting to senior teams and public speaking
- Confidence in developing an idea from the start to fruition
- Passion for tackling social and environmental issues related to food and hospitality
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS DESIRED
- Min. 2 years' experience working in sustainable sourcing (e.g., procurement/supply chain/policy, etc.)
- Working proficiency in additional languages other than English
- Business development experience
